The elusive ramp cars were sold in a few sets and while always found in olive drab
military livery they were not always in military sets and not always with military loads.
Here we have several different examples with correct loads which have become known as
"Critters". This Olive drab version is probably the most common (if one is allowed to use
the term common in association with the critter).
This red one should be more common since most others are overpainted red ones, but, it seems
to be more rare. When you think about it it makes you wonder what genius decided to paint
the tank red in the first place? It's sort of like standing up in the foxhole screaming
"shoot me"!
The blue version is very rare. I only know of two although I'd guess more are floating
around.
Here we have a white one which has been rumored to exist. I believe this one is repainted.
This Critter and the one below are the only two known to exist equipped with a metal turret
and barrel. These have only recently shown up I am interested in comments about them. I
have examined them and must admit that they look correct to me. I am wondering if they are
early versions, prototypes or what???
I have heard that a well known collector has a prototype critter and it is made this way.
I still have reservations about the ones pictured above.

Besides the tanks the ramp car was also sold with the Deluxe Delivery truck and trailers.
Thanks to my friend, Al Woodward, I now have a picture of this beautiful load.
Above is another legitimate load for the ramp car, although the entire truck train should
be the same color, either red, blue, or olive drab. Apparently a white set has also
surfaced but I have not yet seen it.
I have a set with the ramp car but no load. It is a very late prewar set with a copper CP
engine and all the cars are produced from recycled litho sheets. The set has two six inch
trucks with it but no 4" load. The set has been verified!
