This is a very rare car. The eight wheeled red frame (8WF-R) cars were only produced for a very short time, most likely in 1936
but possibly 1938. It is difficult to tell from catalog artwork what color some frames are with certainty. I believe they are the
earliest eight wheeled cars which puts them at 1936. Whatever year, they are an interesting and challenging series to collect. This
Automobile Flatcar and the Pole Flatcarcar shown below are the two most difficult pieces from the series to find. The correct engine is
just as rare. The eight wheel red frame set that included the Automobile and Pole Flatcars was headed up by an unusual Canadian
Pacific 2-4-2 engine. It is gray with the maroon and gold sideboards numbered 3000 and it is equipped with a double reduction
motor.
If you happen to have a spare eight wheeled CP tender with maroon and gold sideboards I need one to fill out my set!
This Pole Car is another example of rare 6" 8 wheel red frame production. This is one of the last six-inch cars I
purchased for my collection (I still need a couple). It is not in the best condition but when you find the rare birds you grab them,
worry about condition later, especially if the price is right.
I have only seen a few of these.
