4 Wheel Airflow & Truck Flatcar

Here we have a green Airflow on a prewar auto-flat and a postwar dump truck on a postwar auto-flat. The airflow is a clockwork powered example with steerable wheels (note the "U" shaped front axle holes). The truck can be determined to be postwar by the rounded windshield and the flatcar has plastic knuckle couplers (PKC) which did not appear until 1953. It is questionable whether the airflows were produced in the postwar era. The car model was from the mid 1930's and would have been more than 11 years old by that time. The truck still looked like a truck to little postwar boys!

Trucks

This is a selection of trucks. Clockwise from the left they are:

Non Load Trucks

This selection of trucks are less often seen. None of these are legitimate train loads. Clockwise from left they are:
  • Green wrecker (these are usually two toned), prewar
  • Red bus, prewar
  • Blue body, red back fuel truck (correctly repainted, repro grille), prewar
  • Red body, blue back, green door moving truck, prewar
  • Blue bus, prewar (from Greyhound Bus Station)
  • Red fuel truck, prewar
  • Silver body, red bed wrecker, prewar

  • Step Vans

This selection of step vans include some that are rare. None of these are legitimate train loads. Clockwise from left they are:
  • Green Gas van
  • Blue Delivery van
  • Red Bus
  • White Milk Van
  • Grass green Delivery van
  • Red Delivery van
  • I presume all of these are prewar. The gas vans are probably around in other colors as well.
I have also seen a white Bread van and a red Ambulance van but was not able to examine them to determine authenticity.

    Orange and silver Dump Truck

This orange bodied dump truck submitted by Larry Chernow
is only the second orange Marx 4" trainload vehicle I have seen

I offer a thorough examination of these 4" vehicles in The DEFINITIVE Guide to Marx trains, Joy Line and Six-Inch Tin.
