This set just might be rarer than the rare blue Coronation set shown elsewhere in this site. I bought the engine and tender separately, but from the same seller, at the same time. He did not recognize that they went together! The coaches came to me from another source a couple years later. Whether this or the blue set is rarer is unimportant. They are both extremely rare. You are looking at the only known example of the brown and gold 1314 tender known to be in a collection. A couple of the engines have surfaced since I turned up this one but none with tenders.

This set is stunningly beautiful. The typically understated British influence is at its best here. The stately brown, gold, and cream (custard) livery is elegant but not ostentatious, confidant but not boisterous. It just says "I am here. Deal with it!"
