British CV Set with Short Coaches and Vestibules

Here is a set that any Marx collector would be proud to own. It is a British Marx set with short coaches and vestibules. This is why I operate this site! A visitor emailed me with these pictures of his childhood set. It had a broken wheel and was missing the key. He had not seen it run for several years. I sent him both and now it's back in operation fascinating little Texan children at Christmas! The owner is not a train collector (makes you kind of sick, doesn't it?).

Nice pretty box art.

As you can see it's been well cared for, box and all inserts are still present.

The Commodore Vanderbilt engine is unmistakeably British, with the offset drive rods and the left hand key wind. The most striking difference is the bell under the cab floor with the wheel driven actuator. This particular engine has hard rubber rear drive wheels.

This tender with gold lettering I though was unique to this set. I have since seen this tender used elsewhere.
