Wyandotte Airport

It is not often that I see a Marx competitor producing a superior toy. This Wyandotte Airport is one case where the competition hit a home run. This station is beautifully lithographed with details both subtle and overt. Even American Airlines Inc. litho'd on the hangars. A tower with lights and windsock, Ticket Office and detailed windows, structural details and subtle colors, all make this one of the outstanding lithographed buildings of the postwar period.

The planes, known as Mystery Planes, with the sweptback wings are often confused for Marx. I once had a very experienced well known collector get very agitated at me for disputing his claim that these were Marx airplanes. He didn't know nearly as much as he thought!

Yellow, green, red, and orange are the only colors I have seen and this is the only orange example I know of. Somehow I expect some blue ones are around.
