Each year at York Fred Pauling seems to bring a custom that makes his earlier work look
pedestrian. Fall 2001 was no exception. While not really making his CV tender look
pedestrian, this set is certainly Fred's current masterpiece.
A three piece snow removal train outfitted with a rotary snow blower, tender and bunk car,
in Union Pacific silver and balck livery.
While this set is not motorized (yet) it is an outstanding example of creative mechanics
and artwork coupled with a knowledge of trains.
Obviously, all these pieces began as 6" tin cars.
The rotary blades of the snow blower actually rotate!
The tender is pretty much stock with a new paint scheme and an 8 wheel frame.
The Bunk Car or Caboose probably began as a tender. Add sliding doors, a bay window, a
separate roof, ladders, railing, and a catwalk, throw on some paint, ink graphics and
presto! There you have it!!!
If only it was that easy.
Once again, I bow down in homage to the Master!
(And he's such a humble man!)
