1935 Commodore Vanderbilt Freight Set

This early six-inch freight consist is not a complete set. I have shown it this way to focus on the engine, wrecker, and floodlight cars. The engine shown is electric. This can be determined by the squared shape of the manual direction switch on the top. Normally, one would think a switch at this location would indicate a clockwork motor but in 1935 both the clockwork and electric engines had the switch/brake at the same location. On the clockwork engine the switch (it's not actually a brake but a start switch) is rounded off.

The wrecker and floodlight cars from this series are the most difficult ones to find. The wrecker is equipped with four tin outriggers that, when engaged, clamped the car to the track. The floodlight car has a collector that is not found except in this year.
