This set is included here even though it straddles categories. The rare numbered 994 engine pulling a 4 wheel plastic set. Who'd a thunk it!

When I found this engine the plastic cars were with it but I only bought the side dump car. I had never seen that car and I was sure the engine didn't belong with the set. I have learned not to presume the obvious with Marx trains!

For us plastic collectors, here is where the 967 NYC black side dump car goes! Apparently this was the only set to include this car. The black side dump car is quite rare.

This ad for the set above appeared in a 1957 Montgomery Ward catalog. It is not the best description of the consist but the essentials are there. You can see the basic consist is a four wheel plastic set, the numbered engine cab, and the black side dump car.
