Blue Rivet Tender Set

This interesting little set has only recently (2008) been noticed by collectors. Very interesting that the blue rivet tender would be used. Why? That is the question. Was this a mistake in printing that was not picked up until it was too far down the production line? This is another one of those questions that are not likely to be answered. Too much time has passed. It does make for a colorful set although I wouldn't call it attractive!

Now, there are three blue rivet tenders. The earliest is medium blue on a blue square end frame (SEF) with punched sliding tab and slot couplers (PSTSC). This one is dark blue with white rivets on a black SEF with PSTSC, and the last one is actually black with blue rivets. The next time you discuss a blue rivet tender with one of your Marx buddies make sure you're both talking about the same car.
